STANDARD REFRESHER COURSE

MHFA Refresher Courses are for people who have previously completed Mental Health First Aid training in person, online, or a combination of both. These courses help individuals update their knowledge and build on their skills. It is necessary to complete a refresher course within 3 years of getting MHFA accreditation. Accreditation involves taking a short online assessment at the end of each course to certify your skills as an MHFAider.

Eligibility
You completed any full 2-Day MHFA course within the last 3 years
You completed your course face-to-face, blended or online
You completed the accreditation assessment to become an MHFAider
You want your skills and accreditation to stay current, practical, and recognised.

Why Refresh?
Continual Learning: Continuous learning is an important part of quality education and training.
Knowledge retention: Research shows that learned knowledge can decrease over time but can be reinforced for better long-term retention.
Accreditation: Completing a refresher is required to maintain a formally recognised MHFAider Accreditation. It extends your accreditation for another 3 years.
Safety: Keeping people up to date with knowledge and skills is crucial for the safety of participants, communities, and the people they assist.
Skill building: Refresher content builds on existing knowledge and skills through revisiting and improving understanding and abilities.
Real-world application: Refresher training increases participant confidence in applying what they have learned in real-life situations.
Professional development: Refresher training contributes to Professional Development (CPD), often recognised or required by employers.
Valued by employers: Current and accredited MHFA training is highly regarded by employers and employees as a respected and valuable resource.
Efficient and effective: It is more efficient (time and cost) and effective to refresh your training than letting accreditation lapse and starting again.
Currency: The world and our environments are constantly changing. Refresher training allows for current discussions and examples, using our evidence base and the latest delivery techniques.

Participants can complete a short assessment at the end of a course to extend their Mental Health First Aid Accreditation for a further 3 years
